TEHRAN, Dec. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- All 94 people aboard an Iranian military transport plane were killed when the plane crashed in a residential area in the capital, local official sources said on Tuesday.

The C-130 aircraft plunged into a 10-story building at 14:10 local time (10:40 GMT) after its attempt to make an emergency landing had failed.

The accident occurred shortly after the plane took off from Tehran's Mehrabad international airport, which was located in a densely-populated residential area in the west of the city.

State television said that the building was on fire and fire-fighters were trying to save people trapped inside the building, and Tehran Radio reported that at least 25 residents were killed and 15 more injured in the building and emergency workers had sealed off the area.   Enditem
