RAMALLAH, Dec. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian prisoners jailed at the Israeli detention camp threatened on Sunday to protest if the prison authorities don't respond to their requests, Palestinian sources said.
The prisoners gave prison's authorities an ultimatum until Sunday evening to respond to their demands, including ending isolated detention of four prisoners, among them Abdul Raheem Mallooh, deputy secretary general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the sources said.
Their demands also included detention center repair and improving treatment for sick prisoners, the sources added. The prison authorities have vowed never to negotiate with the prisoners.
Last week, Israeli guards inside the prison fired tear gas to the prisoners and beat them with wood clubs, wounding 32 inmates, the sources said.
Some 1,700 Palestinian and Arab prisoners in several Israeli detentions staged a hunger strike on Aug. 15 that lasted several days, protesting against the dire situations in the prisons.Enditem |
