"Cache" becomes biggest winner at European Film Academy Awards
BERLIN, Dec. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The French movie
"Cache" ("Hidden") by Austrian director Michael Haneke became the biggest winner
at the 8th European Film Academy Awards in Berlin on Saturday by winning the
awards for best film, best director and best male actor.

2005. | "Cache," telling
the story of repressive French colonialism in Algeria, had won award for best
director at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Aiming to promote Europe's cinematic culture, the
annual European Film Awards are often seen as Europe's equivalent to the Oscars,
and are the most important film awards in European cinema industry.
Scottish actor Sean Connery, 75, was honored with the
European film award for his lifetime achievements. Connery is famous for his
James Bond role--the first 007 figure. He said this award was of the most
special significance to him, and he was proud of Europe for having produced many
good films.
Actress Julia Jentsch won best actress for her role
in the German drama about a girl who stood up to the Nazis, "Sophie Scholl --
The Last Days." She also won a People's Choice Award forthe part.
The father of French pop musician Maurice Jarre
received the European Achievement in World Cinema prize from EFA.
