JERUSALEM, Dec. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Ten days after the party split, members of the Likud Wednesday night began their first internal reorganization and kicked off publicity campaign, the Ha'aretz daily reported Thursday.
At a tense meeting, cabinet ministers Tzachi Hanegbi and Limor Livnat, together with party whip Gideon Sa'ar, were appointed the team that will direct the Likud's publicity campaign.
The first two messages they released were that "the home must be kept intact" and that Kadima (Forward) is a left-wing party with Shimon Peres who declared Wednesday to support Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the coming election, Haim Ramon and Dalia Itzik, both joined Sharon's Kadima Party this week.
Meanwhile, Peres' announcement Wednesday evening about his resignation from the Labor drew criticism from the Labor.
"Peres' invented ideology is embarrassing and bizarre," Labor parliament member Ophir Paz-Pines said Wednesday. "Labor is committed more than any other party to the peace process and Peres' attempt to tie his move to peace is pathetic."
Labor Secretary-General, parliament member Eitan Cabel, said, "It's a sad day when a leader that has received so much from the Labor Party abandons it just as it seems to have found a new hope." Enditem |
