Death toll rises to 150 in Heilongjiang coal mine blast

    QITAIHE, Heilongjiang, Nov. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The death toll of northeast China coal mine blast jumped to 150, and rescuers are still going all-out to search for those missing.

    In a report submitted to the General Administration of Work Safety (GAWS) on Wednesday, Longmei Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. said the death toll included 148 miners killed in the coal mine and twomore workers above the ground.

    Rescuers have hoisted to the ground the bodies of 118 miners killed in the blast, with 81 having been identified, according to the rescue headquarters.

    Some 221 miners were reportedly working underground when the blast went off at 9:40 p.m. Sunday at Dongfeng Coal Mine run by the Qitaihe branch of the Longmei Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. in Heilongjiang Province.

    The rescue operation was performed immediately after the accident. Enditem
