US terror expert expelled from Indonesia
www.chinaview.cn 2005-11-25 14:57:40

BEIJING, Nov. 25 -- A prominent American terrorism expert has been expelled from Indonesia for a second time, an Indonesia Foreign Ministry official said on Friday.

According to a report by the Reuters, Sidney Jones, 53, Indonesia director of the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG), was barred from entering Jakarta Thursday on return from a trip to Taiwan.

Yuri Thamrin, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, confirmed Jones had been denied entry.

The Crisis Group has released detailed and well-researched reports on the activities of the al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah group, which has been blamed for at least four deadly bombings in Indonesia since 2002.

Jones had been expelled in June 2004 under a different administration after a series of hard-hitting reports on terrorism in Indonesia. In July this year, she was allowed back to live in Indonesia.

She said Friday she had no idea why the government turned her away a second time. Enditem
