JAKARTA, Nov. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The Indonesian police have arrested a man
believed to have assisted the country's most wantedterrorist Noordin Moh Top
when on the run, local media reports said Thursday.
The anti-terror unit arrested Dwi Widyarto, 33, who has become a fugitive
since the police launched the biggest counter-terror operation on Nov. 9.
Dwi is accused of harboring Malaysia-born Noordin, the suspected brains
behind major bombings in Indonesia along with compatriot Azahari Husin, who was
killed in the Nov. 9 raid.
Officers nabbed Dwi at a mosque in the Central Java capital of Semarang
just after dawn Wednesday, reported the Detikcom online news service.
Dwi is also charged with the last month's restaurant bombings on Bali
island that killed at least 23 people and injured more than 150 others.
The attacks were carried out by three suicide bombers who made video
recording testimonies prior to the attacks. The identities of the suicide
bombers have been known and the video has been broadcast by the police.
Apart from Dwi, three other militants have been in police custody.
Noordin, who remains at large, is accused of inciting people for the acts of terrorism, recruiting suicide bombers and raising fund for the terror group. The slain Azahari was believed to have plotted most of the attacks, made the bombs and taught followers how to assemble explosive devices. Enditem |
