Paparazzi cover Cruise visit
www.chinaview.cn 2005-11-24 08:29:37

BEIJING, Nov. 24 -- Hollywood "lady-killer" Tom Cruise arrived in Shanghai on Sunday for the shooting of his latest project, "Mission Impossible 3," co-starring Hong Kong actress Maggie Q.

To avoid the media, Cruise had been keeping to his hotel Sunday and Monday. One insider was reported as saying that Cruise will shoot "Mission Impossible 3" from Friday through early December.

Though Cruise has kept his schedule a secret, his 20-person retinue, five official cars and one personal car, has guaranteed him attention. On Monday evening, Cruise and his fiancee, Katie Holmes, visited the City God Temple, an old area in Shanghai famous for its food. The couple reportedly spent more than 5,000 yuan (US$616) for a dinner in a luxury restaurant, with three guests and four bodyguards.

Cruise doesn't plan to visit other places in China, except for Xitang in Zhejiang Province, where he will do some location shooting.

Cruise is also likely to attend the MTV music gala in Shanghai on Friday night. The director of the ceremony expects that Cruise's attendance would turn the night into the leading entertainment event of the year.
