HARBIN, Nov. 22 (Xinhuanet) --The municipal government of Harbin, the capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang province, has started up the city's emergency medical caring system, composed of 15 hospitals for the residents due to possible water contamination, sources with the provincial Health Bureau said.

The provincial Health Bureau has set up a medical team for emergency after the release of the information that the explosion of a chemical plant in the Heilongjiang's neighboring province of Jilin may have caused a leakage of poisonous substances into the Songhua River, which supplies Harbin with drinking water, said Yang Song, an official with the the provincial Health Bureau.

Yang said the phone numbers of these 15 hospitals will be published on the local media for the residents to consult related problems concerned with the their health. Enditem
