KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah reiterated on Saturday that the border between Iraq and Kuwait has already been laid down by a United Nations Security Council resolution, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

After meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Mahmoud Al-Hajj Badan, al-Jarallah said some details remained to be sorted out between Kuwait and its neighbors on the border.

"Part of the territorial border is laid down, but another part remains to be drawn," al-Jarallah said, adding that he was hopefulthe demarcation of the water border between Kuwait and Iraq willbe completed soon.

He also expressed optimism about "enhancing the bilateral relations to make them more solid."

The Kuwaiti official added it was important to include Iran in the border talks because "Iran is part of the triangular border."   The Iraqi official said his country had "no intention to revise the existing border with Kuwait," adding that Saturday's meeting helped iron out all wrinkles over the border.

But he said their talks did not deal with the issue of re-opening embassies between the two countries.

"There is an Iraqi diplomatic delegation already preparing to open such an embassy soon, when all formalities are completed for that," he said.

Hundreds of Iraqis gathered at the border area last June to protest against a border barrier that Kuwait was building between the two countries. Leaders of the two countries have expressed willingness to solve the issue in accordance with UN Resolution 833. Enditem
