Beijing designates 2 hospitals for human bird flu cases

    BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Beijing's municipal health bureau has designated the You'an Hospital and Ditan Hospital to deal with any emergency cases of the bird flu.

    Director of the bureau, Jin Dapeng, said at Friday's municipal news conference on the prevention human bird flu that the two hospitals are to arrange sufficient and competent medical staff and will form a special team to deal with any outbreak of the disease.

    At the same time, the hospitals will make emergency plans and provide effective treatment methods for different suspected cases, Jin said.

    The bureau also asked all the hospitals in the national capital to strengthen training in human bird flu prevention and control.

    The official said the bureau will test Beijing's 120,000 medical staff from Nov. 20 to Nov. 26, and issue qualification certificates to those who pass.

    Moreover, a city-wide human bird flu prevention and control exercise will be carried out across the capital city in early December, involving the establishment of an epidemic emergency response and control network, verification of bird flu virus, transport of possible bird flue patients, formation of an epidemic information reporting system as well as health authorities' supervision and law enforcement.
