HANOI, Nov. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- The 11th ASEAN Transport Ministerial Meeting (ATM) kicked off in Laos' capital of Vientiane on Thursday, with main topics for discussion being measures to strengthen transport cooperation among the bloc members, Laos' news agency KPL reported.
Addressing the meeting, Lao Prime Minister Bounnhang Vorachith urged the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to build suitable legal mechanisms to facilitate their cooperation on transport, especially the implementation of related agreements, including the ASEAN transit transport agreement approved in 1998.
During the one-day meeting, the delegates reviewed the cooperation on road, waterway and air transport over the past year, and sought new cooperative measures on the issue.
The 4th ATM plus China and the 3rd ATM plus Japan will be held in Vientiane on Friday.
