JAKARTA, Nov. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- The Indonesian police have charged three militants arrested in recent raids with the Oct. 1 restaurant bombings in Bali in which 23 people were killed, a spokesman said Wednesday.
The suspects were believed to be the operatives of Asia's top terrorist Azahari Husin who was killed last week in his hideout in East Java.
The three are identified as Muhammad Cholili alias Yahya, Anif Solchanudin and Abdul Aziz.
They were arrested in the Central Java capital of Semarang on Nov. 9 and the arrest of Cholili led to Azahari's hideout on the same day.
The police on Wednesday transferred the suspects to Bali police custody for further investigation.
"We have clues of their role (in the Oct. 1 bombings)," Bali police spokesman Reniban was quoted by the Detikcom online news service as saying.
When arriving in Bali, the suspects were handcuffed, their feet were chained and their faces were covered by black fabric.
Police have claimed it already identified two of three suicide bombers who attacked restaurants in two separate locations on the resort island. It has also seized a recorded video footage showing their pre-attack testimonies during separate raids after Azahari's death.
Police said there were links between Azahari's group and the Oct. 1 bombings. Enditem |
