RAMALLAH, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Sacked Palestinian chief of military intelligence in the West Bank city of Nablus Maher Fares said on Tuesday that the decision to dismiss him was illegal, demanding just investigations.

"I received the decision to remove me from my post on Nov. 2,but I rejected it," Fares said at a news conference. "I will not leave my office and I will continue my duties."

Fares added that he had proposed to Abbas to form a special committee to investigate into why Interior Minister Nasser Youssef sacked him.

In addition, Fares harshly criticized Youssef for failing tohunt down the assassins of intelligence chief Mousa Arafat.

Mousa Arafat, a nephew to the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, was shot dead at home by a group of masked militants on Sept. 7, 2005.  Enditem
