MADRID, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday ended his visit to Spain and left the Spanish capital of Madrid for Seoul for a state visit.

During his stay in Spain, Hu Jintao met with King Juan Carlos I, and had talks with Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. He also met Spain's parliament leaders and attended the first industrial and business summit between the two countries.

Leaders of the two countries discussed ways of deepening bilateral relations and expanding all-round cooperation. The two sides have decided to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two sides signed a series of agreements on cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology as well as culture.

Spain is China's important cooperative partner in South Europe. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Spain 32 years ago, the Sino-Spanish relations have developed steadily. The two countries have maintained frequent exchanges of high-level visits, while bilateral economic and trade cooperation expanded fast.

In 2004, trade volume between the two countries stood at 7.2 billion US dollars, or a 37-percent increase over the previous year. In the first seven months of this year, bilateral trade volume reached 5.9 billion dollars, an increase of 50 percent over the corresponding period of last year.

Before his trip to Spain, the Chinese president paid state visits to Britain and Germany.

Hu will attend the Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) slated for Nov. 18-19 in Busan, South Korea. Enditem
