KIRKUK, Iraq, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Five Iraqi policemen were killed and two wounded in separate insurgent attacks on Tuesday, police said.
"Two policemen were killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb struck a police patrol in al-Askeri district in Kirkuk," Colonel Burhan Habib from Kirkuk police told Xinhua by telephone.
In a separate incident, gunmen ambushed a police commando patrol in the oil-rich city, some 250 km north of Baghdad, killing three commando members and wounding another, he said.
Insurgents frequently target Iraqi police and government officials in a bid to topple the US-backed government. Enditem |
