KABUL, Nov. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The second explosion shocked the war-torn
capital of Afghanistan in a span of about one hour, injuring four including a
Greek soldier working for ISAF (International Security Assistance Force), while
the third suicide attack was foiled, police said.
"A Corolla car intentionally hit a Land Rover driven by Greek soldiers near
British troops' compound in Pul-e-Charkhi area on Jalalabad road, and resulted
in the burning of both vehicles," a police official from Rapid Reaction Force
told Xinhua but refused to be named.
"In the incident four persons including a Greek soldier, an Afghan soldier
and two children in nearby were injured," he said.
The Greek soldier lost both of his legs in the attack.
Another Corolla car, he said, was going to ram into another foreigner's car
but police shot at the driver. The driver missed the target but enabled to make
his good escape.
However, he failed to comment if there were any casualties in the attack.
The first explosion, which occurred at 3 p.m. local time almost in the same
area, left two persons including a German soldier and the attacker dead and
injured seven others including two German soldiers, two Afghan policemen and
three passers-by.
Both the Germans and Greek were part of some 11,000-strong NATO-led ISAF
stationed in Afghanistan to stabilize the war-ravaged country.
Following the incidents police have been stationed in sensitiveareas to
check any possible more attacks in the capital.
Officials have declined to comment on the bloody subject.
No one has claimed responsibility but the Taliban militants whovowed to overthrow the President Karzai-led government and evict US-dominated foreign troops from the post-war nation have intensified their attacks since the beginning of this year during which over 1,500 people have been killed.
