GAZA, Nov. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- A Palestinian was killed and two others wounded by Israeli troops' gunfire in the Gaza Strip early on Monday, Palestinian security and medical sources said.
The sources said Israeli troops opened fire on three Palestinians who were attempting to cross the border fence between the eastern Gaza Strip and Israel.
Medics in Deer al-Balah city in central Gaza said Osama Abed el-All was shot dead on the spot by Israeli troops' gunfire while another Palestinian was seriously wounded and currently went under a surgery and a third sustained moderate injures.
Well-informed Palestinian sources said the three were Palestinians workers who attempted to sneak into Israel for job opportunities.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army launched a barrage of mortar shells into the northern Gaza Strip on Monday morning.
The army claimed that the mortars targeted sites in the Gaza Strip, from which Palestinian militants frequently fired rockets on Israeli targets.
Israel has vowed to stem out Palestinian militant rocket attacks and carried out airstrikes and fired artillery on the coastal strip, from which it withdrew in September. Enditem |
