ADDIS ABABA, Nov. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Some 289 Ethiopians were repatriated from neighboring Eritrea under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the aid agency said Sunday.

According to a press release from the ICRC country office, amongst those repatriated were eight children, two elders as well as two patients.

Similarly, the release said, ICRC has repatriated 15 Eritreans to their country from Ethiopia.

Ethiopia and Eritrea fought a two and a half year border war between May 1998 and December 2000. Nearly 3,400 UN peacekeepers are now deployed in a 25-kilometer-wide buffer corridor that hugs the length of the 1,000-kilometer border between the two states. Enditem กก
