BAGHDAD, Nov. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Thirty-five people were killed and 25 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a restaurant in central Baghdad on Thursday, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt entered the popular Qaddouri restaurant in central Baghdad, and blew himself up shortly after," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The restaurant was crowded with breakfast customers, including security forces members, when the attack took place at about 9:30a.m.(6:30 GMT).

US and Iraqi forces cordoned off the area, as ambulances evacuated casualties to nearby hospitals, he said.

Insurgents frequently attack Iraqi security forces and officials in a bid to topple the Shiite-Kurdish-dominated government installed in April. Enditem
