BAGHDAD, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- A US soldier has been killed in a roadside bomb blast north of Baghdad, the US military said on Tuesday.

"A soldier attached to Task Force Band of Brothers was killed by an improvised explosive device explosion late Nov. 6 while on patrol near Dawr," the military said in a statement.

Two other soldiers and a translator were wounded in the attack, the statement said.

The name of the killed soldier was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

Another four US soldiers were killed on Monday when a suicide car bomber attacked their checkpoint south of Baghdad, said the military in an earlier statement.

The latest death toll brought to over 2,050 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003, according to media tally. Enditem
