BAGHDAD, Nov. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A suicide car bombing attack killed four US soldiers south of Baghdad on Monday, the US military said in a statement.

"Four Task Force Baghdad soldiers were killed when a suicide car bomber attacked their checkpoint (Monday) along a road south of Baghdad," said the statement, adding the incident is under investigation.

Names of the soldiers also were withheld pending notification of their families, said the statement.

The Task Force Baghdad is responsible for security in the capital Baghdad and the surrounding area.

The death toll has brought to over 2,050 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invation in March 2003, according to media reports. Enditem
