www.chinaview.cn 2005-11-06 21:53:39

RAMALLAH, Nov. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian security sources said on Sunday that nine Palestinian prisoners in a Palestinian prison in the West Bank town of Jericho went on a hunger strike as a protest against putting off their demands.

The militants of the armed wing of the Fatah movement, al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, are imprisoned in the Jericho detention, guarded by US and British security officers.

It was the first time that Palestinian prisoners jailed in Palestinian detention went on hunger strike.

The sources said the nine prisoners called for transferring them from the Jericho military prison to the Muqata prison in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Enditem
