Six killed, dozens injured in stampede in S. India

    NEW DELHI, Nov. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- At least six people died and dozens were wounded in a stampede in southern India Sunday morning when relief material was being distributed in a relief camp in north Chennai, according to Indo-Asian News Service.

    The tradegy occured in the relief camp in north Chennai, Vyasaparadi region, where more than 1,000 flood-affected people are staying after last week's heavy rains in the city.

    Heavy rains and a storm battered India's southern coast lastmonth, killing at least 100 people and leaving thousands of people homeless.

    It is reported that heavy rain will continue over Chennai andits northern outskirts for the next two days. Enditem
