| 7 expressways were closed
due to the fog.
(Xinhua) | BEIJING, Nov.
5 (Xinhuanet) -- China's capital was blanketed by heavy fog Saturday morning,
with alarm emitted twice and seven expressways closed for the day.
Local meteorologists said warning signals were given
for the foggy weather at around 5:20 and 11:00 on Saturday morning. The air
quality and visibility were poor in Beijing, though part of the city had a
drizzle in the morning, they added.
According to the meteorologists, a gale of cold air
went southward to Beijing on Saturday afternoon but failed to disperse the fog
immediately, with low visibility persisting for the time being.
Local traffic control sources said seven expressways
from Beijing had been closed since Friday night.
On Sunday, the fog is expected to disperse and the
sky will turn clear, with the wind becoming moderate, the local meteorologists
forecast. Enditem |
