TIRANA, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- An explosion took place in Tetove, a northwestern city of Macedonia at midnight on Oct. 31, while another was reported in Prilep, a city in the central-south region in the early morning on Nov. 1, reported the Macedonia News Agency.
The Macedonian Interior Ministry announced Tuesday that at 11:15 p.m. (GMT 2115) on Oct. 31, an "Opel" car with an Italian license plate suddenly exploded in a parking lot in Tetove city. Besides the exploded car, another two cars nearby were destroyed as well.
At 2:39 a.m. (GMT 0039) on Nov. 1, a dwelling house in the Nov. 3 Street was exploded in Prilep city, damaging several houses and cars nearby.
Local police arrived at the scenes soon after the explosions took place. The cause of the incidents is still under investigation.
Due to historical reasons, relations among ethnic groups of Macedonia have long been tense, which even resulted in a security crisis in 2001.
In recent years, although the tension has been relaxed to some extent, violence-related cases have still happened from time to time. Enditem |
