ATHENS, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- The multinational exercise codenamed "Dolphin 05", organized by Greece with the participation of almost all "Mediterranean Dialogue" countries for the first time, was completed on Tuesday.
The exercise, participated by Israel, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia, was aimed at training forces in humanitarian aid operations and further strengthening cooperation between the armed forces of the participating countries, Athens News Agency reported.
The hypothetical scenario of the exercise anticipated humanitarian aid being provided for the inhabitants of Gavdos, following an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale.
Greek Defense Minister Spilios Spiliotopoulos said that Greece organized the exercise with the "Mediterranean Dialogue" countries"so that we can prove once again that cooperation and understanding between governments and countries is what secures the prosperity of peoples", adding that this cooperation will proceed with the holding of more exercises.
