Bush nominates Samuel Alito for Supreme Court

    WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- US President Bush George W. Bush on Monday nominated Samuel Alito to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, after White House Counsel Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination last week.
