BAGHDAD, Oct. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- A roadside bomb went off near an oil tanker south of Baghdad on Sunday, killing a civilian and wounding three others, police said.

"A roadside bomb detonated at about 7:40 a.m. (0440 GMT) as anempty oil tanker passed on the main road of Muhmoudiyah," Captain Ahmed Abdullah from Baghdad police told Xinhua.

The bomb caused a powerful explosion and set the tanker on fire, said Abdullah, adding that a civilian was killed in the blast and three others were wounded.

The casualties were evacuated to the hospital of Muhmoudiyah, some 30 km south of Baghdad, he added.

Insurgents have frequently planted roadside bombs, targeting Iraqi government officials, troops and civilians, in a bid to topple the Shiite-and-Kurdish-dominated government formed in April.   Enditem
