HK steps up publicity about bird flu prevention
www.chinaview.cn 2005-10-30 14:30:51

HONG KONG, Oct. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The Hong Kong government distributed leaflets on avian flu in Causeway Bay, Central, and Tsim Sha Tsui areas on Sunday as part of its efforts to step up publicity about bird flu prevention.

The leaflets, entitled "What You Should Know about Avian Flu", came in two versions -- one printed in Chinese and English, and the other in Thai, Indonesian, Nepalese, Hindi and Urdu.

The Hong Kong government announced Saturday that a large-scale emergency drill would be staged at the end of next month to prepare the city for a possible bird flu pandemic.

While in Sham Shui Po, an area with hundreds of crows, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department began to kill some birds to reduce the risk of bird flu, though the authority hasn't found H5N1 virus in Hong Kong so far. Enditem
