About 30 killed in New Delhi blasts

    NEW DELHI, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- About 30 people were killed and over 60 injured when three blasts rocked crowded markets in Delhi in quick succession this evening, police sources said.

    The first explosion occurred in Paharganj market at 5:40 p.m. local time when it was crowded with people busy with Diwali shopping, killing seven persons and injuring over 60 others. Minutes later explosions rocked the Sarojini Nagar Market and Govindpuri area of Okhla in South Delhi.

    Those injured in Paharganj were rushed to the Lady Hardinge, Safdarjang and RML hospitals.

    Police Commissioner K K Paul said that the explosive, which went off in Paharganj was planted either in a motorcycle or a rickshaw.

    A Police in Sarojini Nagar told Xinhua that about 30 people dead, 25 injured in this area.

    Xinhua reporters saw about 20 bodies lying on the ground in a hospital near Sarojini. Enditem
