MACAO, Oct. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A South Korean official confirmed here Friday that the delegations of South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will march together at the opening ceremony of the 4th East Asian Games on Saturday evening.
South Korean chef-de-mission Lee Seung-kuk, who is also vice president of the South Korean Sports Committee, said that the athletes and officials of the two Koreas would march together following a common flag at the opening ceremony.
"We would like to show the unity between the two Koreas by holding a joint march, and we hope this can lead to improved relations with the north side. It will show the world we are trying for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula," Lee said.
Saturday's joint march would be the sixth time for the two Koreas in this kind since the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Enditem |
