BAGHDAD, Oct. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- A car bomb struck a joint US and Iraqi patrol in western Baghdad on Tuesday, killing one person and wounding five others, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A car bomb went off at around 10:00 a.m. (0700 GMT) near a joint US and Iraqi army patrol in Baghdad's Ma'amoun district, killing a civilian and wounding five others," the source said.

Two civilian cars were damaged by the blast, he added.

In a separate incident, a powerful blast detonated at 8:45 a.m. (0545 GMT) near a US military convoy in Leqaa Square also in western Baghdad, which killed a civilian and wounded another, leaving three civilian cars damaged, the source said.

"No information was available about casualties among the US troops in both incidents," said the source.

The latest blasts came one day after three powerful explosions rocked three hotels that house many foreigner journalists and contractors in central Baghdad on Monday, killing at least 11 people. Enditem
