Gathering marking recovery of Taiwan opens

    BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- A grand gathering marking the 60th anniversary of China's recovery of Taiwan from Japanese colonial rule after the World War II opened here on Tuesday in the Great Hall of the People.

    Senior leader Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top advisory body, is present at the gathering and is expected to deliver a keynote speech. Enditem
