US to discuss action against Syria at Security Council
www.chinaview.cn 2005-10-24 05:50:17

WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States will discuss possible action against Syria with member states of the UN Security Council, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Monday.

Washington has been prompting a possible action against Syria after a UN report implicated Damascus in the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri.

"The report that came out is deeply disturbing and we want to talk about the way forward with other members of the Security Council," McClellan said.

The UN Security Council members are to receive a briefing on the UN investigation that has implicated Lebanese and Syrian security officials in the Beirut seafront blast which killed Hariri and 20 other people in February. Enditem
