GAZA, Oct. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Militants of the Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility on Monday for firing 11 homemade rockets from northern Gaza Strip at the southern Israeli town of Sderout.
Saraya al-Quds, Jihad's armed wing, said in a leaflet that the rocket attack on Sderout came in response to the killing of one of its leader Loy Saai on Sunday night in an Israeli army raid in the northern West Bank town of Tulkarm.
Another militant of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades was also killed when Israeli soldiers stormed a safe house in Tulkarm refugee camp.
Palestinian witnesses said that one of the homemade rockets landed at an empty area near the village of Beit Hanoun, causing no injuries.
Shortly after the rocket attacks, Israeli warplanes carried out on Monday night airstrikes on the Gaza Strip with two huge explosions heard, Palestinian security sources said. Enditem |
