LONDON, Oct.23 (Xinhuanet) -- A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the July 7 London bomb attacks, which killed 52 people and injured more than 700 others, the BBC reported Sunday.

Anti-terrorist police detained the suspect in West Yorkshire, northern England, and they were searching two residential addresses in the area, the BBC said.

The man is suspected of committing, preparing or instigating acts of terrorism, police said. He was being questioned at a local police station.

The arrest follows a tip-off by the News of the World newspaper.

"Material that passed to police by the newspaper is now being assessed by the Metropolitan Police anti-terrorist branch," said the Metropolitan Police in a statement.

A police spokesman added that the arrest had been prompted by alleged comments the man made in the newspaper.

The suspect is the only man held in connection with the July attacks. Several others had been arrested but released without charge. Enditem
