JERUSALEM, Oct. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Two Israelis were stabbed and seriously wounded late Sunday by a Palestinian before he was shot and wounded by Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near the West Bank town of Bethlehe, an Israeli TV channel said.

    The Palestinian attacked two Israeli soldiers with knife at the checkpoint before a bypass road linked the southern West Bank with Jerusalem when he tried to escape the arrest of the Israeli soldiers who suspected him of having a stolen car.

    The Israeli soldiers subsequently fired at the attacker and wounded him.

    The Palestinian has been shifted to hospital, but his condition is still unknown. Enditem
