NANJING, East China, Oct. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Sun Wenyong of Shandong province took the gold medal in the men's 5000 meters here on Saturday at the 10th Chinese National Games.

Sun clocked a winning time of 13 minutes 58.02 seconds.

Yunnan's Chen Mingfu, who had won the men's 10,000m event on Monday, was second at 13:58.84. Zheng Kai from Shandong was third at 13:59.23.

Sun's victory means that he and twin brother Sun Wenli each won a gold at the Games here. Sun Wenli claimed the title of men's 3,000m steeplechase on Monday.

"The victory is out of my expectation," said Sun Wenyong, the silver medalist in the men's 3,000m steeplechase.

"However, I believe my only rival on the track is myself and I just challenge myself," he added.

Wenyong said that it was Wenli who first went in for athletics training and he then followed suit. Enditem
