NANJING, East China, Oct. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The Guangxi quartet lived up to their favorites tag with an easy victory in the men's 4X100 meters relay at the 10th Chinese National Games here on Saturday.

Dominating from the first lag, the quartet of the defending champion cooperated well to snatch the gold in 39.41 seconds, while Olympic champion Liu Xiang led Shanghai for the silver in 39.65 seconds.

"Taking the title tonight proved our dominance in the relay again, but we were not satisfied with the results," said veteran sprinter Yang Guangming of Guangxi.

Yang, who led Guangxi team crown in the ninth edition four years ago in Guangdong, attributed their lacking of lust win to the seasonal changing.

"The weather suddenly became cooler, and the place where we come from is much warmer than here. We are not familiar with this kind of chilling weather," added Yang.

The guest actor Liu, who just snatched the men's 110 meters hurdles gold medal with a new meet-record time of 13.10 seconds on Thursday, has to settle for the silver.

"I majored in hurdle, so I am happy to bring the silver home with my teammates. They did a really good job. I should thank the audience who gave me enormous support tonight," said Olympic champion Liu.

More then 20,000 spectators stood in the chilling wind to cheer for the Olympic champion, who was treated like a rock star in China after the Shanghai hurdler tied the world record of 12.91 seconds to win China's first Olympic gold in men's athletics last year in Athens.

The bronze went to Guangdong team in 39.72 seconds. Enditem
