Archers in Xinjiang men's archery team

NANJING, East China, Oct. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Xinjiang clinched the title of men's archery team event at the National Games here on Saturday.

Xinjiang totaled 237 points out of 27 arrows to beat Guangdong with 233 points at the final.

With ace archer Xue Haifeng who took part in the Athens Olympics, Xinjiang had more steady performance than a unfledged Guangdong team. Guangdong acquired a lead of one point after the first nine arrows, but Xinjiang replied shortly and did the same thing after the next nine shots.

Xinjiang held the advantage to the end, leaving small room for their rivals to catch up.

"We are fighting like a united team and our morale is obviously higher than them. We have proven to be the strongest team," said Xue Haifeng after the match.

"I still have much room to improve, especially the techniques. I want to achieve better results in 2008 Olympic Games through hard training."

In the bronze medal play-off, Shandong downed Liaoning 235-231.Enditem
