    NANJING, East China, Oct. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Meng Yan from Jilin won the title of men's 400m hurdles in 49.19 seconds, shaving 0.06 seconds off the previous record, here, on Friday at Chinese National Games.

    "I was ready for the title for I got my peak condition here, but it's not good enough to meet my target of reaching 49 seconds.The coolness and wind today had a negative impact on my performance," said 25-year-old Meng.

    Zhang Shibao from Shandong was second in 49.75 seconds. 21-year-old Zhang was the bronze medallist at this year's Asian Championships.

    Zhu Zhi from Guangdong finished third with a time of 49.88 seconds. 28-year-old veteran Tan chunhua, national record holder, from Shanghai ranked fourth in 50.98 seconds. Enditem
