NANJING, East China, Oct. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- The U.S. track and field super star Michael Johnson showed himself up at the Nanjing Olympic Stadium here on Thursday looking for more Chinese athletes to his camp the next year.

Johnson, the legendary 200- and 400-meter runner, said on Thursday that he was under discussion with the Chinese Athletic Association (CAA), looking forward to bring more Chinese athletes to his camp based on the University of Baylor, the United States.

"I was invited to coach clinics in Beijing last Summer. So from that point we established a relationship with CAA," said the five-time Olympic gold winner. "Besides, four Chinese athletes and two coaches took part in my program from the end of January to the middle of July. "

Johnson believed that the program was a success and said, "Now, I'm looking forward to bring a larger squad of Chinese athletes to train with us in the United States next year."

Johnson said that he was working with the CAA to determine who will be put into the program and wish them to have the opportunities to represent China in the 2008 Olympic Games. He was expecting that 10 to 12 Chinese athletes could join the program.

China sent its athletes to train with a foreign coach for the first time in the beginning of this year. The four promising youngsters who were picked up to train in the Ultimate Performance Training Camp at the University of Baylor were 100m specialist Zhou Jiamin, 200m sprinter Yang Yaozu and 400m runners Hu Chengjiang and Jiang Bo.
