WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- US officials said Wednesday that four men from Mideast will be deported, as part of the probe into a terror threat targeting a highway tunnel in Baltimore,Maryland.

    Mark Bastan, an immigration officer in Baltimore said the four,three from Egypt and one from Jordan, have already broken the law by failing to show up for deportation proceedings before they were detained Tuesday.

    But he did not explain how these men are linked to the terror threat, which prompted authorities to close the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel for over two hours Tuesday.

    Baltimore is only 65 km north of the US capital Washington DC and the tunnel links the highway system along the Eastern US seaboard.

    Last week, US authorities received a warning, which said several terrorists may drive vehicles filled with explosives through the tunnel.

    The information prompted Baltimore authorities to close thetunnel and make several arrests Tuesday.

    The authenticity of the threat hasn't been verified yet and a FBI taskforce is leading the probe of the case.

    Earlier this month, an information claiming a bomb threat targeting New York subway prompted local authorities to put onhigh alert.

    However, the intelligence was proved to be a hoax in the end.Enditem
