ISLAMABAD, Oct. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Powerful aftershocks jolted different parts
of Pakistan Wednesday morning, forcing already panic-stricken people in
Islamabad, Lahore and other areas of the country out of their homes.
The magnitude of these aftershocks was more than the 400 ones which had
been felt in the region so far after the devastating "10.8" earthquake, which
has killed some 42,000 people and injured over 67,000 others in the country.
Seismologists measured the tremors at 5.8 on the Richter scale, but local people
in capital Islamabad said the shocks were felt as strong as the 7.6
magnitude one that struck 11 days ago, if not stronger.
No immediate casualties or damage were reported from these aftershocks. Enditem |
