NEW DELHI, Oct. 18
(Xinhuanet) -- A minister in the India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir was killed
in his home along with two paramilitary troopers Tuesday by two militants,
according to Indo-Asian News Service.
The militants in police uniform barged into a high
security residential area in Srinagar, capital of Indian-controlled Jammu and
Kashmir, and killed the state's junior minister of education Ghulam Nabi Lone.
Police said two militants dressed in police uniform
first entered the residence of Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami, legislator and general
secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M). One of the militants
was killed when the guard posted outside Tarigami's home fired at the duo.
The guard died in the retaliatory fire.
The surviving guerrilla
then entered the next door home of Lone, who was at the time meeting a group of
locals. He fired gunshots at Lone, critically injuring him.
Lone was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared
brought dead.
Meanwhile a paramilitary trooper was killed and a
civilian seriously injured in the attack. The militant went into hiding
somewhere in the high security area that houses several ministers, politicians
and bureaucrats.
Police have cordoned off the complex, barely two km from the city center Lal Chowk. Enditem
