JAKARTA, Oct. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- An earthquake
measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted the Indonesian tsunami-stricken
province of Aceh early on Monday.
The tremor was felt by the people living in South
Aceh and also in the provincial capital of Banda Aceh, Yasir, a seismologist in
Banda Aceh, was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying.
The quake's epicenter was located 184 km away from
South Aceh regency, he said.
People in certain parts of the country's westernmost
province, which lies on the northernmost tip of Sumatra Island, still felt the
quake for at least 20 times a day, he said. Enditem |
