    JAKARTA, Oct. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale rocked Indonesia's Nias island early Monday, but no casualties or damage were reported, seismologist said.

    The off-shore quake occurred at 02:03 am, with its epicenter 47km north of Gunung Sitoli, the main town of Nias, the website of Jakarta Post reported citing Joko Nurdadi of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.

    The tremor, which was centered 33 km below the sea floor, was also felt in parts of northern Sumatra island, he added.

    An earthquake measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale hit near Nias in March, killing more than 600 people. Enditem
