British military police found dead in Iraq

    LONDON, Oct. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior military police investigator in Iraq has been found dead at the British base in the southern city of Basra, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Sunday.

    Captain Ken Masters' body was found on Saturday in his accommodation in Waterloo Lines, Basra, a Ministry of Defense saidin a statement. He was Officer Commanding 61 Section, Special Investigation Branch, Royal Military Police.

    "He had been responsible for the investigation of all in-theatre serious incidents, plus investigations conducted by the General Police Duties element of the Theatre Investigation Group,"the statement said.

    Ken Masters was aged 40, married with two children and had served with the Royal Military Police since 1981. He was commissioned from the ranks in 2001 and served most of his career with the Special Investigation Branch.

    His death will be investigated by the Royal Military Police.

    Some 8,500 British troops are stationed in Iraq. A total of 95 deaths of British troops due to various causes have been reported. Enditem
