RIYADH, Oct. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Saudi Arabia on Saturday announced a 133-million-dollar financial aid to Pakistan to help rebuild thedevastated infrastructures in areas hit by last week's earthquake.

    The decision was made under the directives issued by Saudi KingAbdullah bin Abdulaziz, in order to fund the rebuilding of infrastructures destroyed in the quake-stricken areas, especially schools, hospitals and roads.

    The money will be provided by Saudi Fund for Development(SFD), after the fund coordinates with the Pakistani government.

    To date, the Saudi government has sent five flights carrying relief materials totaling over 350 tons to Pakistan's worst-hit Northwestern area. Saudi field hospital and medical team have alsoarrived in the area and begun their relief work there.

    After the intense earthquake hit Pakistan on Oct. 8, Saudi Arabia announced that it would offer an emergent aid worth 2.6667 million dollars to Pakistan, and it also established an air corridor through which the most needed medicines, medical equipments, food and tents were transported to the area.

    A Saudi inspection team has been sent to the quack-stricken areas to assess the situation in a bid to provide more effectivelythe badly needed materials to the victims there.

    King Abdullah has called for a nation-wide donation for the relief of the earthquake victims in Pakistan. Enditem
